One-to-one instruction based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is provided in the home to:
- Foster skill generalization across home and school
- Train activities of daily living in the natural environment
- Prevent residential placement
- Promote maximal independence
Skill building programs are designed using traditional behavioral interventions such as discrete trial training and naturalistic teaching methods to teach foundational skills such as joint attention, imitation, and communication. Once the foundational learning skills are in place, more advanced skills such as academics, play skills, leisure skills, social skills, pre-vocational skills, and daily living skills are targeted.
